Duke Energy Names Ginny Mackin Chief Communications Officer
July 31, 2010CHARLOTTE, NC – July 30, 2010 – Duke Energy has named Ginny Mackin senior vice president and chief communications officer.
She will be responsible for directing Duke Energy’s communications strategy and services, including support for the business units, brand management, executive communications, media relations, social media and the web presence.
“Ginny is a seasoned communications leader,” said Roberta Bowman, senior vice president and chief sustainability officer. “She has more than 20 years of experience as a communications and business leader at Wells Fargo, Wachovia and Bank of America. She knows Duke Energy as a customer and a leader in the Carolinas, and is eager to put her experience to work to take our communications to the next level.”
Mackin previously served as an executive vice president and director at Wells Fargo, where she led the bank’s eastern community bank communications after its merger with Wachovia in 2009. Prior to her role with Well Fargo, she led Wachovia’s communications as executive vice president and director of corporate communications from 2001 to 2009. She worked in positions of increasing responsibility from 1988 to 2001 at Bank of America.
Mackin graduated from Boston College where she received her BA in Speech Communications and Philosophy.
She will assume her responsibilities at Duke Energy on Aug. 18, succeeding Cathy Roche, who retired July 1.
