Early Voting for Democratic Presidential Preference Primary Now Open in Key State of South Carolina

South Carolina, a pivotal state in the United States presidential election process, is gearing up for its Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) for both the Democratic and Republican Parties. The upcoming elections offer registered voters a significant opportunity to cast their ballots for their preferred presidential candidates. Notably, early voting for the Democratic Party’s Presidential Preference Primary has officially begun.

Democratic Party Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) Dates:

Early Voting:

Monday, January 22—Saturday, January 27, 8:30 am-6:00 pm

Monday, January 29—Friday, February 2, 8:30 am-6:00 pm

No early voting on Sunday, January 28

PPP Day:  Saturday, February 3: 7:00 am—7:00 pm

Republican Party Presidential Preference Primary (PPP) Dates:

Early Voting:

Monday, February 12—Saturday, February 17, 8:30 am-6:00 pm

Monday, February 19—Thursday, February 22, 8:30 am-6:00 pm

No early voting on Sunday, February 18, or Friday, February 23

PPP Day:  Saturday, February 24: 7:00 am—7:00 pm

South Carolina residents can conveniently vote at the Voter Registration & Elections office at 105 Bolt Drive in Laurens during the early voting period. Bring your Photo ID and vote just like you would at your polling place on election day.

Vote Absentee:

Absentee voting is an option if you are unable to vote in person. To do so, you need to request an application by calling 864-984-4431. The deadline to apply for a DEMOCRATIC absentee ballot is January 22,2024, and the deadline for apply for a REPUBLICAN ballot is Tuesday, Feb 9, 2024. 

Note: the application must be signed and postmarked by the deadline to be accepted. 

Vote on Election Day:

If you choose to vote on election day be sure to bring your photo ID to your polling place in your precinct. Your precinct and polling place is listed on your voter registration card, but everyone is encouraged to confirm your polling place (in case the location has changed). Voters can confirm their polling place at scVOTES.gov before voting or check with Laurens County Voter Registration office at 864-984-4431.

Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
