East Cooper Habitat for Humanity elects board members

April 24, 2017

East Cooper Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit, non-denominational Christian housing organization, has elected Richard Jackson, Jeff Donaldson and Deborah Greig as board members.

Jackson is Owner and President of JacksonBuilt Custom Homes, a company founded in 2009 and headquartered on Daniel Island.  Jackson worked from 1997 to 2009 for one of the largest and most respected builders in the Southeast.  During that time he worked in various capacities in more than 15 exclusive neighborhoods in Atlanta and led the building operations in the premier neighborhoods of Daniel Island and Dunes West.  JacksonBuilt Custom Homes has constructed over 40 homes in neighborhoods across the Lowcountry.  The Company has been honored with nine Prism Awards from the Charleston Home Builders Association as well as “best of” honors for design and customer service by HOUZZ, the leading platform for home remodeling and design.  JacksonBuilt has also been recognized by GuildQuality with the Guildmaster Award for outstanding customer service.  Richard is a board member and immediate past president for the Charleston Home Builders Association.  Richard and his wife, Kimberly, live on Daniel Island with their two daughters.

Donaldson is the Owner of ACE Preferred Inspections, a company founded in 1997 that provides residential, commercial, insurance and environmental inspections.  The Company has completed thousands of property evaluations with their diverse staff of technicians certified in various professional fields.  In addition to his business, Jeff has been active as President of his Home Owner Association and with the Boy Scouts, including time as an Eagle Scout mentor.  Jeff resides in Mount Pleasant with his wife Angela and son Zach. He also has a daughter, Devin, who attends Clemson University.

Greig is an Account Executive with WCSC-TV Live5News.  Most of Deborah’s career has been spent in the media.  She was a television reporter in Portland, Oregon and in Charleston, SC, and served as the News Director for WCIV-TV for ten years. During her media tenure she was awarded an Emmy, multiple AP and RTNDA reporting and producing awards, and was named Best Reporter in SC before she moved into management.  She left the media to run an integrations company she owned with two partners, working to smoothly integrate technology in many of the area’s large commercial buildings and homes.  She returned to the media as an Account Executive at the Post and Courier for five years, and is now back in her favorite element—TV—selling TV and digital products for WCSC-TV Live 5 News. Deborah has volunteered as a camp counselor at Camp Happy Days, and served as a board member for the local Girl Scouts. She was president of South Carolina’s Associated Press Board and is an alumni of the Chamber’s Leadership Charleston. Deborah has two daughters and lives in Mt. Pleasant.

East Cooper Habitat for Humanity (ECHFH) assists families by building safe, well constructed homes. Working in partnership with low-income families, ECHFH utilizes volunteer labor and donated funds to provide a “hand up”, not a “hand out”. Homeowners are chosen based on their demonstrated ability to handle personal finances and their willingness to contribute at least 350 hours of “sweat equity” on their home.  Upon completion, Habitat homes are purchased by the homeowner with monthly payments under an interest-free mortgage over 30 years, and those payments are directed toward future homebuilding efforts as received.
