East Cooper Medical Center opens Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

East Cooper Medical Center is pleased to announce the opening of its new Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

“We are all very excited about the exceptional care our patients will receive in our new Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit,” said Patrick Downes, East Cooper Medical Center CEO.  “This unit will allow our patients to heal in a supportive environment while receiving personalized care. Our clinicians understand the time, patience and effort it takes to rebuild strength and increase mobility and independence.”

“I am excited to be able to offer the community access to advanced medical equipment and modern accommodations,” said Tom Moriarity, Director of Rehabilitation Services. “The development of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit will create job opportunities for nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists. The care we provide will be done through a team approach with close collaboration.”

Rehabilitation treatment for the following conditions will be offered in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at East Cooper Medical Center: stroke, brain injury, myopathy, spinal cord injury, hip fracture, joint replacement, amputation, polyarthritis, multiple sclerosis, degenerative or progressive neurological disorders, Parkinson’s Disease, and more.
