Eastside Elementary Earns Prestigious “Leader in Me Lighthouse School” Certification
April 13, 2026Eastside Elementary School has received national recognition as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, a distinction awarded by FranklinCovey Education to schools demonstrating strong leadership culture and measurable student success.
The certification reflects the school’s commitment to developing leadership and life skills in students through the Leader in Me model—an evidence-based framework designed to build confidence, accountability, and academic achievement.
Principal Tanya Wilson said the recognition highlights the impact the program is already having across the school.
“We are honored to have been certified as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School,” Wilson said. “We have seen amazing results from implementing the model, including increased attendance and improved academic performance. This approach is making a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.”
The Leader in Me model focuses on helping students develop essential skills such as goal setting, time management, communication, and problem-solving. It also emphasizes creating a positive school culture where leadership is shared among students, staff, and families.
To earn Lighthouse Certification, schools must demonstrate success in three key areas: teaching leadership principles, building a leadership-driven culture, and aligning academic systems to support student growth. Schools typically pursue this designation after several years of implementing the program.
Eastside Elementary joins a select group of schools worldwide to receive this honor. Since its launch, the Leader in Me model has been adopted by more than 8,000 schools across 70+ countries, with only a portion achieving Lighthouse status.
The certification is valid for two years, during which the school will continue to build on its success and further strengthen its leadership culture. At the end of that period, Eastside will undergo a recertification process to maintain its Lighthouse designation.
School leaders say the recognition is not just about achievement, but about preparing students for long-term success.
Through the program, students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, set personal goals, and develop the skills needed to succeed both in school and beyond.
