Eau Claire Cooperative Health Center announces West Columbia expansion

February 9, 2017

Eau Claire Cooperative Health Center (ECCHC) has begun breaking ground on a new approximately 6,700 square foot primary care center in the Cayce/West Columbia. The new primary care health center will offer family medicine, pediatrics, counseling/behavioral health, women’s health, and pharmacy services.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded the Cooperative funding through the Health Infrastructure Investment Program “to support 160 health centers with their efforts to increase patient capacity and to provide additional comprehensive primary and preventive health services to medically underserved populations through the renovation, expansion, or construction of facilities.”

The project is partially funded by the Lexington County Community Development Department through Community Development Block Grant funding.

Expanding our primary care services in West Columbia has been long awaited,” said Delgado Cantave, ECCHC President and CEO. “There is a growing need for many residents to have access to affordable health care services. We are filling a gap for patients to find the care they need and build on our mission to provide quality healthcare in the spirit of the Good Samaritan. This expansion would not be possible without the support and partnership of County of Lexington and the Health Resources and Services Administration.”

The new health center is expected to be completed winter 2017.
