ECCO leadership update: welcoming interim CEO Pat Walker

June 15, 2026

ECCO has named veteran nonprofit leader Pat Walker as interim CEO as the organization begins a national search for its next chief executive officer.

The appointment follows the departure of former CEO Stephanie Kelley, who recently accepted the position of vice president of student life at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Maryland. ECCO leaders expressed gratitude for Kelley’s years of service and leadership, noting her significant contributions to the organization’s growth and impact.

Walker, former CEO of the Lowcountry Food Bank, will provide leadership and support to ECCO’s staff and board during the transition. A longtime supporter of ECCO, Walker previously served on the organization’s Beyond the Walls Capital Campaign Steering Committee and has been involved with its mission for many years.

Throughout her career, Walker has held executive leadership roles with East Cooper Meals on Wheels, the Lowcountry Food Bank and the Lowcountry Food Bank Foundation. She also will serve on ECCO’s CEO Search Committee as the organization works to identify its next permanent leader.

In a statement, Walker said she was honored to serve during the transition and looked forward to working alongside ECCO’s staff, volunteers and supporters. She also praised Kelley for leaving behind a strong organization and dedicated team.

The ECCO Board of Directors has already begun the search process for the organization’s next CEO. Leaders said the transition is expected to be thoughtful and strategic, with Walker helping guide the process.

ECCO officials emphasized that the organization’s mission remains unchanged and that its staff, volunteers and community partners will continue providing critical support and services to local families throughout the transition. The organization also expressed appreciation for the ongoing generosity and commitment of its donors, volunteers and supporters.
