Eckstrom earns promotion in State Guard

COLUMBIA, SC – State Comptroller Richard Eckstrom has been promoted to the rank of Major General with the S.C. State Guard.

Eckstrom, who previously held the rank of Brigadier General, has commanded the all-volunteer State Guard for the past three years. He has been a member of the State Guard since 2004.

The State Guard is a reserve military force under the command of the South Carolina Military Department and the South Carolina Adjutant General. It supports the National Guard and law enforcement within South Carolina during times of emergency.  

Also, on Saturday, June 21, Deputy Commander Tom Mullikin will be assuming command from Eckstrom as the State Guard’s new Commander during a ceremony at the Guard’s Olympia Armory in Columbia.
