Edventure Children’s Museum brings Chef Jeff Henderson, a nationally syndicated Food Network celebrity, author and motivational speaker, to South Carolina

September 6, 2016

Chef Jeff Henderson will be the keynote speaker at EdVenture  Children’s museum second annual Impact Breakfast, and then travel across South Carolina visiting six schools and a prison facility as part of EdVenture’s “BeABoss Youth Empowerment Tour” where he will speak to more than one thousand teens about his personal journey from incarceration to professional and personal success.

“When we invited Chef Jeff here last spring for our first ever Youth Summit, we could see the life-changing impact his personal story had on the teens in attendance,” said Karen Coltrane, EdVenture president and CEO.  “He told them how decisions he made at their age landed him in prison.  Then through his skillful storytelling, he took everyone in the room along as he found his life purpose and learned to make better decisions which eventually led him to become the first African-American Chef at Las Vegas’s Bellagio Hotel, a Food Network star, best-selling author and successful business person.  His is a true American success story that inspires everyone who hears it, and we are thrilled to bring him back to Columbia to speak to business and government leaders, as well as teens throughout South Carolina that we hope will be our next generation of leaders.”

After the Impact Breakfast at 7:30am on September 13 at EdVenture, the Youth Summit Tour will include appearances at C.A. Johnson High School at 2219 Barhamville Road in Columbia, S.C.,Hartsville High School, Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, Woodland High School (St George), Allendale-Fairfax High School, Allendale Correctional Institution, and Barnwell High School.

“At EdVenture children’s museum we work with children from every background and see first hand that some have more support than others when navigating their at-risk years,” explained Nikki Williams, EdVenture executive vice president.  “So we are excited to bring students and teachers together with someone as dynamic as Chef Jeff, whose story has the power to change a young person’s life.”

Anyone interested in attending the Impact Breakfast should contact Allison Whittle at 803-530-1507.  The event is free, but seating is limited and must be reserved in advance.  For more information on tour stops, visit www.edventure.org.
