EdVenture launches Military Appreciation Days May 30th, July 4th and November 11th

May 24, 2016

COLUMBIA, SC – EdVenture Children’s Museum will host Military Appreciation Days on May 30, July 4 and November 11th offering free admission to all military members and dependents. The three days will honor the men and women who serve our country and protect our communities. Free children’s lunches will also be provided during the appreciation days to all military dependents 12 and under, thanks to Sysco.

“We are a community that truly appreciates our military service members and their families,” said Karen Coltrane, president and CEO of EdVenture. “So we are excited to honor them with a free family experience at the museum on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Veterans’ Day, November 11th.  And we are grateful to our sponsors and volunteers for helping us make this possible. ”

While military service members and their dependents can enter for free on those three days, all guests are invited to explore the museum, participate in patriotic activities and leave their mark on the EdVenture handprint American flag to honor fallen soldiers.

“Our military families spend so much time apart,” explained Barbara Livingston, a military wife and advocate, HR director for Gregory Electric and member of EdVenture’s Board of Trustees.  “So it is nice to make a family experience possible for them several times each year.”

Military Appreciation Days are sponsored by Gregory Electric, Shealy Electrical Wholesalers, Mulliken Law Firm and Sysco.

Military members must show a valid military ID on appreciation days to receive free admission and on normal operating days to receive discounted admission of $10.50. For more information, visit www.EdVenture.org.
