Edward G. Mintz of Columbia Eye Clinic elected 2016-2017 President of the South Carolina Society of Ophthalmology

COLUMBIA, SC – Edward G. Mintz, MD, PhD, has been elected President of the South Carolina Society of Ophthalmology. Dr. Mintz is a partner in the Columbia Eye Clinic working primarily out of the clinic’s Lexington location. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia and received his Doctorate (PhD) in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Mintz subsequently received his MD degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed his Residency in Ophthalmology at the Eye Foundation Hospital with the University of Alabama.

Dr. Mintz also serves as the Society Delegate to the South Carolina Medical Association Inter-specialty Council. In addition, he is a past recipient of the highly regarded Distinguished Service Award for 2011 in recognition of “his outstanding contributions and noble service to the South Carolina Society of Ophthalmology and the citizens of South Carolina.”

 

The South Carolina Society of Ophthalmology is one of the nation’s most recognized and nationally acclaimed State Eye Societies comprised of Eye Physicians and Surgeons specializing in the medical eye practice area of ophthalmology. The South Carolina Society has been recognized repeatedly for its Patient Advocacy programs and its State Physician Leadership, and its Executive Director has received multiple National Awards of Excellence from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
