Emergency Management Staff receive certification

March 9, 2016

Dorchester County Emergency Management Department is pleased to announce that two staff members have earned certification as a South Carolina Certified Emergency Manager (SCCEM).  Roger Dangerfield, Communications and Logistics Manager, and Matt McNamara, Preparedness and Recovery Specialist, both received their certificates on January 14, 2016 at the South Carolina Emergency Management Association meeting in Columbia.  The two will be formally recognized during the Awards Ceremony at the annual South Carolina Emergency Management Association Workshop in March, along with the other SCCEM recipients from 2015.

The South Carolina Certified Emergency Manager Program was created to raise and maintain professional standards in emergency management and to certify achievement of that standard within the profession in South Carolina. The program was developed in a cooperative effort between the South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD) and the South Carolina Emergency Management Association (SCEMA), and requires extensive documentation of the applicant’s qualifications, experience and training.
