May 15, 2023

Emily Pitts has joined The Woodlands at Furmans’ directorial team as the new Director of Community Based Programs.

A South Carolina native, Pitts earned her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from Anderson University. After graduating, she attended Winthrop University, where she earned her Masters of Science in Sports and Fitness Administration and Management.

Pitts has worked at The Woodlands at Furman since 2021, and started with the community as the Wellness Assistant before moving into the role of Wellness Coordinator, in which she led and facilitated the creation of wellness programs for residents in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Independent Living and Skilled Nursing. Prior to joining The Woodlands at Furman’s team, she displayed a passion for working in wellness and in senior communities, holding roles at Summit Hills Retirement Community, North Greenville Fitness and Cardiac Rehabilitation, Somerby of Mount Pleasant Retirement Community, and Anderson Area YMCA.

As Director of Community Based Programs, Pitts will be heading The Woodlands at Furman’s Best of the Upstate winning Connections Program, a nonmedical companion service offered to residents in all areas of the community, as well as people outside of the community. Connections Care provides assistance beyond just home care, and offers an extra hand in everything from helping with holiday decorations, arranging transportation and providing housekeeping services to helping with personal care, developing a wellness routine and so much more.

“I could not be more excited to take on the role of Director of Community Based Programs here at The Woodlands,” said Emily Pitts. “I have a passion for this population and improving the quality of life for individuals who need it most. The opprotunity to continue working with the wonderful Woodlands team and residents I have grown so close to throughout this adventure makes it that much more rewarding.”
