Duke Energy and Together SC announced the continuation of their partnership, empowering community-focused nonprofits with the transformative “Powered Up” program.

“It is Together SC’s vision to create more equitable communities in South Carolina,” said Madeleine McGee, Together SC President & CEO.  “The commitment of Duke Energy to fund a program like Powered Up, which actively promotes and uplifts organizations that have historically been overlooked, is paramount in our pursuit of a brighter and more inclusive future for our state.”

With a shared commitment to fostering positive change, this initiative offers a comprehensive year of customized technical assistance and coaching strategically designed to bolster the capacity and impact of minority-led nonprofits and those serving underserved communities within Duke Energy’s South Carolina service area.

The 2023 Powered Up cohort consists of remarkable nonprofit leaders poised to make a difference in their communities:

  • Randolyn Harmon, Executive Director, Nicholtown Child and Family Collaborative
  • Kathryn Martin, CEO, Melanated Melon
  • Tracey D Pressley, CFO, CMDs Pantry

As Duke Energy and Together SC renew their commitment to driving positive change through the Powered Up program, they continue to invest in the growth and empowerment of South Carolina’s nonprofit sector. The program’s impact is poised to ripple through communities, fostering greater resilience, diversity, and lasting transformation.

The program encompasses a wide range of benefits aimed at driving organizational growth and effectiveness:

  • One-Year Together SC Membership
  • Organizational Assessments
  • Tailored Technical Support
  • Coaching for Executive Directors and Board Chairs
  • Cohort Learning Sessions
  •  Participation in Fall 2023 Carolina Leadership Seminars

“We are only 3 sessions in, and I am already equipped with an immeasurable amount of knowledge to move forward as a leader of an organization committed to creating a positive impact in many different communities all across the state.” said LuLu Cameron, Executive Director, SC 4 Restorative Justice. “The first few sessions have really helped us to better define our impact, develop an effective execution of strategic planning, and create thriving environments with our staff and board. Together SC and Duke Energy are truly modeling the phrase: When people want to see you win, they will help you. We are beyond grateful for this opportunity. It has been like one amazing adult field trip every time we enter the training room.”
