Joe Erwin is not new to entrepreneurship.  In 1986, Joe and his wife Gretchen bought a one-man shop in Greenville called Penland Advertising. Together with their friend Allen Bosworth, they grew Erwin-Penland into one of the largest marketing and advertising agencies in the country.
