Exciting June Events at Laurens County Museum

June is shaping up to be another exciting month at the Laurens County Museum, with a variety of engaging programs and exhibits on the calendar. Highlights include a Revolutionary War lecture, the opening of an exhibit featuring vintage Laurens County quilts, and participation in the SC Ag&Art Tour. All events are open to the public, and the museum is located at 116 South Public Square, Laurens, SC.

The Revolutionary War Lecture Series continues on Tuesday, June 11, at 7:00 PM. Historian and battlefield preservationist Durant Ashmore will present “The Day it Rained Militia,” offering insights into a pivotal moment in the Revolutionary War. Admission is free for museum members and individuals 18 years old and under, while a $5 donation is suggested for other attendees. Memberships will be available for purchase that evening.

On June 22 at 10:00 AM, the museum will unveil its extensive antique quilt collection in a new exhibit. Featuring quilts as old as 170 years, this display offers a unique glimpse into the textile history of Laurens County. Additional quilting workshops and events are planned for later in the summer, with details to be announced. The quilt exhibit is free to visit, though some workshops may require a participation fee.

The Laurens County Museum is also proud to be a stop on the SC Ag&Art Tour on June 29 and 30. Visitors can witness local artists demonstrating their craft and showcasing their talents. Admission to this event is free, and artworks will be available for purchase.

The museum’s exhibit hall is open from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. There is no fee to tour the exhibits.
