Executive Vice President of Southern Mutual Church Insurance Company Earns CPCU® Designation

COLUMBIA, SC June 4, 2009 – Southern Mutual Church Insurance Company is proud to announce that the American Institute of CPCU has awarded Executive Vice President Robert Bates the professional insurance designation of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®).

The American Institute of CPCU is an independent, nonprofit educational organization that confers the CPCU designations to individuals who complete eight rigorous courses and national examinations, as well as meet its ethics and experience requirements. All CPCUs are required to maintain and improve their professional knowledge, skills, and competence through their commitment to the American Institute’s Code of Professional Ethics.

Bates, a graduate of University of South Carolina Business School, has more than 25 years in the commercial insurance industry. He has also earned other designations including Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Risk Manager (CRM) and Associate in Insurance Services (AIS).
