Expansion of Learning Opportunities for District Cohort

On Saturday, December 11th, Laurens County School District 56 had 25 teachers graduate with their Master’s degree in Applied Teaching and Learning. These 25 teachers were part of a district-sponsored cohort to attain their degree from USC-Upstate. With the inclusion of these recent graduates, District 56 is proud that 86% of its certified teaching staff have a Master’s degree or higher.

Congratulations to these teachers on their recent graduation: Amber Allen, Lynn Beaty, Travis Bouknight, Ann Brewington, Allison Brown, Becky Burrow, Tosh Corley, Tiffany Frazier, Olivia Gardner, Sarah Grooms, Laura Hall, Faye Hawkins, Caitlyn Hellman, Katie Jacks, Laura James, Brian Lyda, Kathy Manley, Emily Mauney, Elizabeth Myers, Brittany Nuttall, Stephanie Porter, Bridget Strange, Carrie Thomas, Camille Watts, Becca Wham, and Brittney Wilbanks.

“We are so proud of our graduates of the USC-Upstate Master’s Program,” said Superintendent Dr. David O’Shields. “District 56 believes the investment in our teachers sows dividends for years to come in the lives of children they teach.”

The district plans to start another Master’s cohort in the Fall of 2022.
