Experience the Holy Land for a Weekend in Laurens

Laurens residents have a rare opportunity the weekend of July 31 through Aug. 1 to experience the Holy Land without leaving the county. Professional Israeli tour guide Katharine van der Beek will lead a weekend of events that blend multimedia presentation, worship and reflection on what is currently happening in the Middle East.
The weekend opens July 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the Laurens County Museum, located at 116 S. Public Square. The evening features a multimedia tour of the Holy Land paired with harp-led worship. Golf carts will ferry attendees from the city parking lot to the museum. Entry is free, and no RSVP is required.
Events continue Aug. 1 at Lucas Avenue Baptist Church, located at 103 Lucas Ave. At 10 a.m., van der Beek will examine prophetic scriptures in light of current events in the Middle East.
The weekend concludes Aug. 1 at 5:30 p.m., when van der Beek shares from her mother’s heart about the hardships of war and the toll it is taking on youth in the Middle East. This session is the only event that requires an RSVP. Those interested may call 864-684-8062.
