Commercial real estate attorney and former in-house counsel Renée Maxey is returning to private practice, joining Womble Bond Dickinson’s Greenville office as Of Counsel.

Maxey guides clients in a wide range of real estate-related matters, including property acquisition, development, construction, financing, and facility management and operations. She comes to Womble Bond Dickinson from Spartanburg, S.C.-based Johnson Development Associates, Inc., where she served as Assistant General Counsel for the past five years. In that role, she managed all legal aspects of nearly 70 projects from letter of intent to closing, followed by project financing and construction, and then matters related to property management and long-term operations.

Prior to her work with Johnson Development, she served as Assistant Vice President and Counsel for DB Services of New Jersey, Inc., a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank. Before going in-house, Maxey spent seven years as a real estate, financial services and litigation attorney at Holland & Knight LLP. She brings a total of more than 13 years of legal experience to Womble Bond Dickinson.

“As a long-time in-house counsel, Renée understands a company’s real estate needs from the insider’s perspective, and she brings that same approach to serving clients. We are delighted to have her join our growing team,” said Trent Jernigan, leader of Womble Bond Dickinson’s U.S.-based Real Estate Practice Group.
