Fans invited to join the Fireflies at Fan Fest – March 25

March 22, 2018

The Columbia Fireflies invite all fans out to Spirit Communications Park for Fan Fest on Sunday, March 25 from noon to 3:00p.m. Fan Fest will be the first official event to kick off the 2018 season. A Meet the Team event will follow on Tuesday, April 3. Admission and parking are free for both events.

At Fan Fest, fans will get the chance to check out Spirit Communications Park for the first time this season. Behind the scenes tours of the stadium will be available for fans to take part in – including the home locker room. Fans can stop by the Mason Jar Team Store and shop for some new Fireflies gear before the start of the season. Concession stands will be open for the duration of the event, and all concessions will be half off during Fan Fest, including draft beer. The SCU Kids Zone will be open and free for kids in attendance, and dogs are welcome to attend the event as well.

Fireflies fans ages 3-12 are invited to take batting practice on the field during Fan Fest. Parents may register their kids for this opportunity by clicking HERE. Space is limited, so sign kids up early.

The Fireflies Ticket Office will also be open during the event. Fans can purchase single games tickets and full or partial season ticket packages. Those who purchase season tickets will be able to head out to the seating bowl to pick their seats based on those that are available.

“Opening Day is quickly approaching, and we are extremely excited to get the season started,” said Fireflies team president John Katz. “Fan Fest is a wonderful opportunity for us to welcome fans back to Spirit Communications Park and kick off the 2018 season.”

Players will not arrive in Columbia until April, so the Fireflies have added a Meet the Team event, which will be hosted at Spirit Communications Park on April 3. At this event, fans will get their first peek at the 2018 Fireflies team. The full roster is expected to be announced on or around April 1.

The Meet the Team event will feature an open workout for fans to watch from 3:30p.m. to 5:00p.m. Team autographs will follow the workout, taking place on the main concourse and lasting for 30 minutes (from 5:15p.m. to 5:45p.m.). The Mason Jar Team Store will also be open during the event for fans who would like to purchase memorabilia to be signed.

“With Easter falling on the Sunday before the season, we wanted to make sure that our fans have a chance to engage with our players before Opening Day,” said Katz. “Meet the Team is a great day for people to come and watch batting practice, see who may be returning from the 2017 team and get to know the newest Fireflies.”

Opening Day for the Columbia Fireflies is April 5 at 7:05p.m. against the Augusta GreenJackets (San Francisco Giants).
