February 5, 2014

GREENVILLE, SC – February 5, 2014 –  Faces and Voices of Recovery (FAVOR) Greenville announced the appointment of its new Development Director, Bethany M. Sparks, as of January 29, 2014.

“Bethany has the compassion, vivacity and personal qualities we were looking for in a development director,” said Richard Jones, Executive Director of FAVOR. “We are thrilled that she will be leading FAVOR Greenville’s efforts to gain support for our mission and help more people find long-term recovery.”

A young nonprofit fundraising and marketing professional with five years of nonprofit management and director-level experience, Sparks brings skills across multiple domains, including fundraising campaign management, marketing and social media strategy, and community relations. Sparks received her BA in Dramatic Arts and English from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, where she began her fundraising career working with nonprofit arts organizations.

title=Prior to joining FAVOR, Sparks was the Director of Development for the Upstate Homeless Coalition, where she spearheaded the creation of a fund development and community outreach program, including a comprehensive educational awareness campaign for elementary, middle, and high school students.

“I am incredibly lucky to be a part of the FAVOR Greenville team,” said Bethany Sparks. “The work happening here is vital to create a better, healthier community for all of us. As an up-and-coming city, Greenville is such an appropriate backdrop for the recovery movement that FAVOR Greenville is championing. I am so excited to work with this community to promote our message of hope in recovery.”

During her time at Centre, Sparks led independent research on the economic impact of arts organizations in small-town America, collaborating with area civic and business leaders. In the Atlanta community as the Development and Marketing Manager for Georgia Shakespeare, Sparks managed a $1.2 million emergency campaign to revive the historic theatre company and ensure a healthy 29th season of productions. She has also led various nonprofit fund development programs through major transitions and established departmental functions in a variety of nonprofit settings. Sparks is actively pursuing her Certified Fundraising Executive certification and is looking forward to making a great impact in the Greenville community.
