Final Weekend to Catch LCCT’s “Smoke on the Mountain”

The final performances of Laurens County Community Theatre’s summer musical Smoke on the Mountain are set for this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday—offering one last chance to enjoy this toe-tapping, family-friendly production that has had local audiences laughing, clapping, and humming along.

The show runs:

  • Thursday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m.

  • Friday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m.

  • Saturday, June 14 at 3:00 p.m. (Matinee)

Held at the Clinton High School Auditorium (18132 SC-72, Clinton), Smoke on the Mountain is set in 1938 and follows the Sanders Family Singers as they return to performing at a small Baptist church in North Carolina. Packed with gospel classics, comedic storytelling, and heartfelt moments, the production offers a charming slice of Americana.

The cast features:

  • Burl – Lesslie Blakely (also serving as co-director)

  • Vera – Ruth McDaniel (also music director)

  • Stanley – Jacob Blakely

  • Dennis – Silas Schiera

  • Denise – Lizzie Davidson

  • June – Corbitt Landrum

  • Rev. Mervin Oglethorpe – Holly Hollingshead

The musical was written by Connie Ray, conceived by Alan Bailey, with arrangements by Mike Craver and Mark Hardwick.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for youth (ages 3–17) and seniors (65+). Tickets can be purchased at the door or online (note: a $2.00 fee applies for card purchases).
