Finnegan heads SCBIO Board of Directors

G. Thomas Finnegan, Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Co-Head of the Medical University Hospital Innovation Center at the Medical University of South Carolina was named Chairman of the South Carolina Biotechnology Association (SCBIO) Board of Directors for 2016.

Finnegan has served as the head of MUSC’s CIE since 2012 and co-head of the Medical University Hospital Innovation Center since 2015. Prior to that he was Vice President of Finance and Corporate Development at Introgen Therapeutics Inc. based in Austin, Texas and portfolio company of Texas Biomedical Partners LLP. Finnegan has 15 years of experience in all facets of life science company startup development from fund raising to licensing, partnerships and M&A. He began his career as a health care investment banker on Wall Street.

“For three years, Becky has done a great job helping connect and grow the life science community across the state. We appreciate all she has done for SCBIO to make it better,” Finnegan said.

SCBIO executive officers for 2016 are Vice Chairman Matt Gevaert, CEO, KIYATEC of Greenville; Treasurer Tom Strange, director of research and development of St. Jude Medical of Pickens.

  • Christian Graves, president of Carolina Biotechnology Group, Columbia.
  • Sam Konduros, executive director of the Greenville Health System Research and Development Corp., Greenville.
  • Terrell Mills, attorney with Wyche of Greenville.
  • Michael Rusnak, executive director, Medical University of South Carolina Foundation for Research Development, Charleston.
  • Craig Walker, CEO, Vidistar, LLC, Greenville.
