Firefly Distillery celebrates first year in Park Circle with anniversary oyster roast – Feb 13

February 3, 2021

Firefly Distillery, South Carolina’s oldest working distillery, is celebrating its one-year anniversary at its new distillery location in Park Circle with an oyster roast on Saturday, February 13 from 12 to 7 pm. The outdoor celebration will feature all-you-can-eat oysters from Lowcountry Oyster Co, live music, food trucks and a local vendor market.

Firefly Distillery opened its Park Circle location in February 2020, relocating from the original distillery on Wadmalaw Island. The expansion, including a new 25,000-square foot facility, supports its growing spirits line and provides a distinct venue for private events, weddings and concerts close to downtown Charleston.

The anniversary celebration will bring together Charleston vendors to help mark the milestone, including musicians Chris Boone and the Lauren Hall Trio, food trucks Braised in the South and & Lobster and local artisans and makers. All-you-can-eat oysters from Lowcountry Oyster Co will be available for attendees from 12 to 6 pm with a pre-purchased $25 ticket. Special cocktails will feature a Bloody Mary bar with pickled garnishes from Charleston’s Favorites.

“This new distillery has been a dream of ours for years. We are thankful for the warm welcome in Park Circle and ongoing support of the community, and feel blessed to do what we love and celebrate it with our Firefly family,” said Scott Newitt, co-founder of Firefly Distillery. “Opening our doors one month before a worldwide pandemic was a challenge to say the least, but we’ve adapted. We quickly switched gears to create hand sanitizer and Charleston’s first socially distant concert series, and to safely welcome visitors for tastings, tours and events in our expanded space.”

The event is open to the public and free to attend. Firefly Distillery will limit the day’s attendance to 10 percent of its total capacity to ensure safety for all and masks are required throughout the distillery and outside when social distancing isn’t possible. Event parking is limited so utilizing Uber or Lyft for transportation is recommended. Spanning its adjacent 4-acre field, the local vendor market will include:

  • Charleston Git Fit
