March 16, 2022

First Community Bank announced Laura McKinney as the Bank’s inaugural Community Development Officer. The new role signifies a continuing commitment to the Bank’s values as a community bank impacting lives for success and significance. The move also ensures FCB is accessible to its communities bringing first in class solutions where they are needed most.

Mrs. McKinney brings over 25 years of public relations, economic development and communications experience supporting both the private and public sector across the country and around the world. Mrs. McKinney has served as a diplomat with the US Department of State, held senior leadership and executive roles with the American Chamber of Commerce in Estonia, SC Council on Competitiveness, and Alcoa Corporation and supported her husband, retired LTC Jim McKinney, during his 32-year career as a US Army officer.

First Community Bank CEO Mike Crapps commented, “Laura is very accomplished in her career and we will benefit from her experiences and expertise. Additionally, it should be noted that she is the daughter of our founding Chairman of the Board, Jim Leventis, and carries his mantel of service for our customers and our communities. At this time in the growth of the Bank, we felt it was critical to add this capacity, and we couldn’t have found a more appropriate person to represent us.”

Mrs. McKinney is a graduate of AC Flora High School and holds a BA from the University of Virginia. She is a member of the Columbia Rotary and sits on the board of the Columbia Music Festival Association (CMFA). She and her husband Jim live in Chapin with three of their five children.
