First Community Bank Opens Downtown Office

June 16, 2014

LEXINGTON, SC – First Community Bank announced the opening of its downtown Columbia banking office at 1213 Lady Street. The location near Main Street gives the Lexington-based community bank a highly visible presence in the heart of the city and offers a new option for businesses and professionals looking for a bank designed to meet their unique needs.

The 20,000 square foot, four-story building was built in 1964 and has undergone extensive renovations led by local architect Scott Garvin of Garvin Design Group and Cohn Construction. The updated exterior design includes a suspended glass canopy, metal roof trellis and a sculptural stair tower overlooking the bank’s adjacent parking lot. The midcentury building recently received landmark status, a legal recognition that provides incentives to owners who invest in the renovation of historic properties.

Drew Painter, First Community’s Regional Market President, will manage the new office. “Our customers will find the same commitment to service they have come to know at other locations and have easy access to commercial and retail banking, mortgage banking and financial planning and investment advisory services. Plus, they can enjoy the added convenience of street level parking,” said Painter.

The bank’s financial planning team, First Community Financial Consultants, is relocating from its Lincoln Street office to occupy the second floor of the new downtown location. Current tenants will continue to lease the upper floors.

“The downtown area is a great addition to the First Community family,” said First Community Bank President and CEO Mike Crapps. “We look forward to bringing our unique style of banking to the city’s central business district.”

First Community Bank opened its doors in 1995 with offices in Forest Acres and Lexington. Since that time, they have expanded across the Midlands including the communities of Camden and Newberry. They will break ground on a new office in Northeast Columbia in the Town of Blythewood this fall. Earlier this year, the bank expanded into Aiken and Augusta, Georgia through the acquisition of Savannah River Banking Company.

First Community Bank, founded in 1995 and headquartered in Lexington, South Carolina, is a wholly owned subsidiary of First Community Corporation (NASDAQ: FCCO). First Community is a full service commercial bank offering deposit and loan products and services for businesses and consumers, residential mortgage lending, and financial planning/investment advisory services. First Community has a network of fourteen banking offices located in the Midlands of South Carolina; Aiken, South Carolina; and Augusta, Georgia.
