First Lady Announces Weekly Winner Chosen by SC Voters in the Healthy SC School Video Contest

Columbia, SC- January 11, 2008  At noon today, voters determined Fatty Basketball as the weekly winner of the Healthy SC School Video Contest.

Chris Metzger, an eighth grade student at Heathwood Hall in Richland County, created Fatty Basketball- a video about an overweight student who wants to make the basketball team but realizes his unhealthy lifestyle is preventing him from performing well enough to do so.  He will receive a fitness prize pack from Coca Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated- and will remain in the contest for a chance to win the monthly prize of $3,500 cash!  

The video in the number one spot last week at noon was The Dangers of Steroid Abuse.   This video was created by a team of students from South Aiken High School.  Those students are Kristyn Sanito, Maison Harley, Sara Kennedy, Joshua Dumont, Roberto Aragon, Danielle Sheperd, and Audrey Hutcheson.  They will also receive fitness prize packs and remain in the contest.

The contest runs through January 31st, with video submissions accepted up until midnight on January 24th. The quarter finals begin January 25th. Each month, the video in the #1 spot receives $3,500 cash and the runner up receives $1,500.  Schools of the top two videos each month will also receive prizes. 

This is the final month of this contest which began in November.
