First Things First for Red Devils in Union

A road football victory at Union County on Friday night will not nail down a Class 3A playoff slot for the Clinton Red Devils, but it’s all they can do.

Due to the unusual circumstances of the coronavirus on sports, Clinton (2-2) cannot control its own fate, but a loss to the Yellow Jackets would seal it.

Broome, which fell to Emerald on Wednesday, is playing catch-up on a schedule that was interrupted by COVID-19. The Centurions have Region 3-3A games remaining with Union County and Woodruff. They own a tie-breaker over Clinton by virtue of a 27-26 victory in the only game Broome played in the season’s first month.
