Fisher & Phillips Attorney Earns Specialist Designation from State Supreme Court

June 11, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – Reyburn Lominack III, an attorney in the Columbia office of Fisher & Phillips LLP, has earned certification from the South Carolina Supreme Court as a specialist in employment and labor law.

Lominack is the ninth Fisher & Phillips attorney to receive this designation and joins an elite group in South Carolina. Statewide, only about 70 attorneys have been certified as employment and labor law specialists by the state Supreme Court.

“The specialist certification is a result of a lot of hard and important work Reyburn has done on behalf of our clients,” said Stephen C. Mitchell, managing partner of the Columbia office of Fisher & Phillips. “It also marks the continuation of a long, successful string of Fisher & Phillips attorneys who have been similarly selected by the Supreme Court.”

Certification as a specialist means an attorney has at least five years’ substantial involvement and special competency in the area and has devoted at least 40 percent of his or her practice to employment and labor law.

Additionally, applicants must complete at least 60 hours of continuing legal education classes in employment law and submit at least two references from a federal judge, hearing officer, arbitrator or mediator before whom they have appeared. Finally, attorneys must pass a written examination.

Lominack represents employers of all sizes in state and federal trial and appellate courts, as well as administrative tribunals. He also regularly advises clients on day-to-day employment issues arising under statutes such as Title VII, the FMLA, the ADA, the ADEA, the FLSA, and the NLRA. Additionally, he assists employers with traditional labor matters, including union avoidance campaigns, unfair labor practice charges, grievance arbitrations, and collective bargaining negotiations.

He also is heavily involved in the community. Lominack is a past president of the Rotary Club of the Vista Night and a member of the Leadership Columbia Class of 2010, a leadership development program sponsored by the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

Other Fisher & Phillips attorneys previously designated as employment and labor law specialists by the South Carolina Supreme Court include Cheryl Behymer, Michael Carrouth, Daniel Ellzey, Fred Manning, Stephen Mitchell, Jonathan Pearson, Hagood Tighe and Mason Alexander.
