Fisher & Phillips Launches Convenient Educational Initiative

January 12, 2009

COLUMBIA, SC – January 12, 2009 – The South Carolina office of national labor and employment law firm Fisher & Philips LLP will kick off a major new educational initiative with a seminar covering recent and pending changes to workplace-related laws on February 12 from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Clarion Town House. A nominal fee of $20 per person ($15 each for two or more individuals from the same organization) will be charged to cover the cost of a continental breakfast.

Fisher & Phillips generally hosts large, regional educational programs, but because many organizations are reducing or eliminating discretionary business travel in 2009, Fisher & Phillips nationwide has launched a major initiative called “This Year, We’re Bringing It To Yousm” designed to bring legal educational programs directly to human resources professionals, in-house legal counsel, risk managers and other managers who deal with workplace legal issues.

“The recent, rapid economic downturn has forced employers to re-examine their willingness to spend money on travel,” said partner Fred Manning II. “But at the same time, there’s a significant need for the business community to learn about new laws in a more convenient way.”

At the breakfast briefing, the firm’s attorneys will discuss topics that include the Employee Free Choice Act, new Family and Medical Leave Act regulations, the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act and other labor initiatives.

“We’ve got a packed schedule of timely, updated information on workplace legal developments that our clients and business owners need to know for 2009,” said partner Michael Carrouth. “We’re also offering webinars so that our clients can participate from their desks. Our new programs bring the knowledge to our clients rather than asking them to come to us.”

Interested employers are encouraged to visit the firm’s website, www.LaborLawyers.com for an updated list of seminars, breakfast briefings and webinars.
