‘Fiske Guide’ names College of Charleston a top school

For the 17th year in a row, the Fiske Guide to Colleges has named the College of Charleston as one of “the best and most interesting institutions in the nation.”
The noted guidebook compiled by Edward Fiske, former New York Times education editor, includes over 300 colleges and universities out of the more than 2,200 four-year institutions of higher education in the United States.
According to the 2022 edition of the publication, “the College of Charleston has become the finest public liberal arts and sciences institution in South Carolina, propelled by an honors college, opportunities for internships and study abroad, and a healthy social life.”
The publication touts the region’s rich cultural scene and the College’s diverse range of academic programs.
“Whether sampling the traditional Lowcountry cuisine or delving into the wide range of courses offered at this strong liberal arts and sciences institution, students at the College of Charleston know they are getting a solid education based on creative expression, intellectual freedom, and hands-on learning experiences,” the guide says.
The Fiske Guide to Colleges also quotes a student who notes, “Here, you will find faculty and staff who care for your success and great friends who come from all different backgrounds.”
The listings are based on a broad range of criteria, including student body, academics, social life, financial aid, campus setting, housing, food and extracurricular activities.
