Five attorneys join Litigation Group at Nelson Mullins in Columbia

Marcus J. Brown, Nicholas A. Charles, Chadwick S. Devlin, Amber M. Hendrick, and Alan J. Wenger have joined the Litigation Group in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Columbia office as associates.

Mr. Brown focuses his practice in the area of franchise and distribution litigation. He has previous experience as an associate at a regional law firm where he practiced in the areas of business and employment litigation. Mr. Brown also served as a legal extern at The Coca-Cola Company. He is admitted in Georgia.

Mr. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Criminology from the University of South Carolina and a Juris Doctor, with honors, from the Emory University School of Law.

Mr. Charles practices in the area of commercial litigation with an emphasis on consumer financial services litigation. He also works on appellate and trial strategy matters. Before  joining the Firm, Mr. Charles worked as a staff attorney at the South Carolina Court of Appeals and held a law clerk position at the Department of Labor, Licensing & Regulation. He also served as a law clerk for Justice John C. Few of the Supreme Court of South Carolina and for him during his tenure as chief judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals. He is admitted in South Carolina and Georgia.

Mr. Charles earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Miami University and a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Mr. Devlin focuses his practice in the areas of commercial, appellate, consumer, and employment litigation. He previously served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Alison Renee Lee of the Fifth Judicial Circuit and also has been a judicial intern for the Honorable J. Michelle Childs of the U.S. District Court for South Carolina. He also has worked as a law clerk at both the City of Columbia Legal Department and another Columbia law firm, and he served as a University of South Carolina School of Law extern to the Richland County Public Defender’s Office.

Mr. Devlin earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina and his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Ms. Hendrick focuses her practice in the areas of products liability litigation, premises liability, commercial, and general litigation. She also assists clients in dealing with consumer product safety and regulatory matters. Ms. Hendrick served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable J. Michelle Childs and Margaret B. Seymour of the U.S. District Court of South Carolina, as well as the Honorable Kendra Y. Ausby of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. She also has experience as a law clerk at the Maryland Legal Aid Bureau and at a Baltimore law firm. She is admitted in Maryland; she is not admitted in South Carolina.

Ms. Hendrick earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training, magna cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.

Mr. Wenger concentrates his practice in the area of complex litigation, including franchise and distribution litigation. He gained experience arguing in Virginia state trial courts as an associate in the Richmond office of an international law firm. Mr. Wenger has also held various positions in the field of information technology and has led cross-departmental teams to complete major projects at two law firms in Columbia. He is admitted in Virginia; he is not admitted in South Carolina.

Mr. Wenger earned a Bachelor of Science in Bible and Intercultural Studies, summa cum laude, from Columbia International University and a Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from the Washington and Lee University School of Law.
