Five SC Students Receive College Scholarships from Workers’ Compensation Insurer

SCHB Self Insurers Fund announced the recipients of their 2015 College Scholarship Program. Five $1,000 scholarships were awarded to 2015 high school graduates. An independent panel of judges who evaluated each student’s commitment to educational excellence, community service and extracurricular activities selected the scholarship recipients.

“This year’s scholarship recipients are all stellar students who have successfully balanced academic achievement with community involvement,” said SCHB Self Insurers Fund Board Chairman, Herb Witter. “We are proud of their dedication and effort to work hard both inside and outside the classroom, and are delighted to recognize their achievement.” A celebratory scholarship dinner honoring the recipients was held on July 15th at The Palmetto Club in Columbia, South Carolina.

This year’s scholarship recipients are:

• Andrew C. Epting of West Columbia
• Andrew C. Murray of Summerville
• Danielle D. Halajcsik of Summerville
• Danielle R. Mahan of Fair Play
• Hannah E. Reynolds of Bluffton

Andrew C. Epting is a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and will attend Clemson University in the fall. He is the son of Mitzi and Charles Epting, president of Taurus Construction, an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder. Carolina Insurance Group of South Carolina is the agency of record for Taurus Construction.

Andrew C. Murray is a graduate of Cathedral Academy and will attend the University of South Carolina in the fall. He is the son of Kimberly and Brad Murray, owner of CB Murray Construction, an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder. C.T. Lowndes & Company is the agency of record for CB Murray Construction.

Danielle D. Halajcsik is a graduate of Summerville High School and will attend the College of Charleston in the fall. She is the daughter of Teri and Bruce Halajcsik, owner of Halajcsik Enterprise, an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder. Regions Insurance is the agency of record for Halajcsik Enterprise.

Danielle R. Mahan is a graduate of West Oak High School and will attend North Greenville University in the fall. She is the daughter of Jeanne and Mark Mahan, fleet manager at Yoder’s Building Supply, an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder. Home Builders Insurance, a Palmetto Insurance Affiliate, is the agency of record for Yoder’s Building Supply.

Hannah E. Reynolds is a graduate of Hilton Head Christian Academy and will attend the College of Charleston this fall. She is the daughter of Cynthia and Mike Reynolds, owner of MJR Builders, Inc., an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.
