Five SC students receive college scholarships from workers’ compensation insurer

SCHB Self Insurers Fund announce the recipients of their 2016 Scholarship Program. Five $1,000 scholarships were awarded to five 2016 high school graduates. An independent panel of judges who evaluated each student’s commitment to educational excellence, community service, and extracurricular activities selected the scholarship recipients. This year’s scholarship recipients are:

  • Rebekah K. Booth of Myrtle Beach
  • Jennifer G. Ford of Bluffton
  • Hannah E. Kisker of Seneca
  • Berkley B. Lane of Murrells Inlet
  • Madeline G. Saverance of Lancaster

“We are delighted to present college scholarships to these deserving students,” said SCHB Self Insurers Fund Board Chairman, Herb Witter. “These students have demonstrated a commitment to school involvement, scholastic accomplishment, leadership, and community service. We are extremely proud of their dedication and continuous effort to work hard both inside and outside the classroom.” A celebratory scholarship dinner honoring the recipients was held on July 27 at The Palmetto Club in Columbia, South Carolina.

Rebekah K. Booth is a graduate of Socastee High School and will attend Coastal Carolina University this fall. She is the daughter of Krista and James Booth II, president of Cipco, an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.

Jennifer G. Ford is a homeschool graduate and will attend the University of South Carolina this fall. She is the daughter of Cynthia and Gregory Ford, an employee of Foskey Heating and Air, an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.

Hannah E. Kisker is a graduate of Walhalla High School and will attend Clemson University this fall. She is the daughter of Daphne and Brad Kisker, owner of Kisker Construction, an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.

Berkley B. Lane is a graduate of Waccamaw High School and will attend George Washington University this fall. She is the daughter of Linda and James H. Lane, III, president of Saratoga Construction, an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.

Madeline G. Saverance is a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and will attend Clemson University this fall. She is the daughter of Dawn and Julian Saverance, and the granddaughter of Michael Williams, owner of Mike Williams Builders, an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.
