Five SC students receive college scholarships from Workers’ Compensation insurer

SCHB Self Insurers Fund announced the recipients of their 2020-2021 Scholarship Program. Two high school graduates and three current college students were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship. An independent panel of judges evaluated each student’s commitment to educational excellence, community service, and extracurricular activities. This year’s scholarship recipients are:

Leila Carroll, Baileigh Cheeks, Morgan McKinnon, Morgan Usher, and Sarah Walker

“We are delighted to present college scholarships to these deserving students,” said SCHB Self Insurers Fund Board Chairman, Herb Witter. “These students have demonstrated a commitment to school involvement, scholastic accomplishment, leadership, and community service. We are extremely proud of their dedication and continuous effort to work hard both inside and outside the classroom.”

Leila Carroll, a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and Greenville County Fine Arts Center is currently attending Adelphi University in New York where she will continue her studies in dance. Leila is the daughter of John Carroll and Savita Nair. John Carroll is the owner of Green Build LLC and is an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.

Baileigh Cheeks is a graduate of Airport High School and will attend the University of South Carolina this fall to study nursing. She is the daughter of Shanda and Jamie Cheeks. Jamie is self-employed and an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.

Morgan McKinnon, a graduate of Dorman High School is currently attending Anderson University where she is studying Secondary Social Studies Education. She is the daughter of Aubre and John McKinnon. Aubre is an employee of Adkins Real Estate & Construction, an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.

Morgan Usher, a graduate of Eastside High School is currently attending Clemson University where she is earning a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Psychology. She is the daughter of Michelle and Todd Usher. Todd is the owner of Addison Homes LLC and an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.

Sarah Walker, a graduate of Dreher High School, will attend the University of South Carolina Honors College this fall to study Biology and Neuroscience. She is the daughter of Leslie and Bruce Walker. Bruce is the president of South Bridge Properties & Construction, Inc., and an SCHB Self Insurers Fund policyholder.
