Flag Award Presented to Tranquility Point: Honoring Commitment to the U.S. Flag and Veterans

August 15, 2023

In a gesture that echoes the spirit of patriotism and gratitude, Janice Neikirk, the newly appointed State Chair of the Flag of the United States of America Committee for the South Carolina Daughters of the American Revolution, had the honor of presenting Tranquility Point Veterans Retreat, situated in Cross Hill, with the prestigious Certificate of Award. This distinguished recognition serves as a testament to the organization’s commitment to the proper display and presentation of the U.S. flag, and its dedication to supporting veterans and first responders.

Neikirk, a resident of Greer, was accompanied by Helen Nazzaro, the Organizing Regent of the Issaqueena Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, along with several other members of the Issaqueena chapter.

The award signifies more than just a recognition of adherence to flag etiquette. It is a symbol of appreciation for the values the U.S. flag represents, and the sacrifices made by veterans and first responders to uphold those values. The Certificate of Award, presented by the South Carolina Daughters of the American Revolution, is reserved for individuals, businesses, charitable organizations, or entities that consistently exhibit a deep understanding of the importance of the U.S. flag and its proper display.

Tranquility Point Veterans Retreat, founded in 2021 by Barry and Kim Gambrell, has emerged as a haven of solace for veterans, first responders, and those grappling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The retreat’s mission transcends its serene landscape – it aims to heal the unseen wounds that warriors carry, both physically and emotionally.
