Flags on Front celebration will continue Saturday without ukulele concert
June 12, 2026The Georgetown Business Association announced a scheduling change for tomorrow’s patriotic Flags on Front event. The Ukes by the Sea performance has been cancelled.
“The temperatures are predicted to exceed 90 degrees tomorrow afternoon with a heat index of 100 degrees, a situation not conducive to performers or an audience. So with great disappointment, the Ukes by the Sea performance scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 pm on Front Street has been cancelled,” explained Bob Willey, a GBA board member. “We hope that we can have the group for another occasion, and certainly hope they can join us for Flag Day ’27!”
However, the remaining events are still planned with American flags adorning the historic downtown retail district and plenty of merchant sales and specials available for community members and visitors.
At noon, a three-man color guard from the Trail Life group at First Baptist Church will march up Front Street and along the Harborwalk, starting from The George Hotel and concluding at the Kaminski House Museum. At the midway point near Francis Marion Park, the march will pause for a community gathering to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the National Anthem.
Please come out to support local businesses and honor Flag Day in historic downtown Georgetown!
