Citizens come out to celebrate Flags on Front
June 22, 2026Citizens and visitors alike braved the heat to pay homage to Flag Day on June 13 in downtown Georgetown as the community continues to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary.
At noon, a four-man color guard from the Trail Life group at First Baptist Church marched up Front Street and along the Harborwalk, starting from The George Hotel and concluding at the Kaminski House Museum. At the midway point in Francis Marion Park, the color guard stopped for a community gathering of nearly 50 people to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the National Anthem.
Coordinated by the Georgetown Business Association, merchants along Front Street and its adjoining side streets adorned their businesses with American flags as part of the annual observance.
