GREENVILLE, SC – The new Fluor Field House at the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind opened this week just in time for football season.

The school’s fundraising arm, The Walker Foundation, led the community in raising funds for the $300,000 facility that includes locker rooms for home and visitor teams as well as restrooms for fans. The Fluor Corporation supplied $102,000 in funds raised through its annual Golf for Greenville. Golf for Greenville leaders Bob Novak and Kristen Taylor were on hand for the ribbon cutting. They are pictured with Don Finkell of The Walker Foundation and student Jasper Womick.

Other area organizations that contributed funds to the project included JM Smith Foundation, Spartanburg County, Downtown Sertoma Club of Spartanburg, and F.W. Symmes Foundation. Gifts of in-kind services and materials were made by Collins and Lacy Attorneys at Law, Kohler Co., Cherokee Masonry, Inc., Lowe’s, and Southeastern Paper.

“We are grateful to The Walker Foundation and the organizations that made the new field house possible,” said Dr. Page McCraw, president of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind. “The Walker Foundation and its partners enable us to provide so many things for the students, but perhaps more importantly, their gifts and visits show the students the value of giving and caring for the community.”
