Focus on Children program receives $5,000 donation from Motley Rice LLC
December 16, 2016The Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired – Charleston (ABVI), received a $5,000 donation from local plaintiffs law firm Motley Rice LLC in support of ABVI’s Focus on Children program. The goal of this program is to provide access to comprehensive vision care and to diagnose vision problems before these problems cause unnecessary and irreversible damage to a child’s sight and/or challenges to their intellectual or social development.
The program provides eye care education, digital eye screenings and if needed, professional eye examinations, prescription glasses and referrals to approximately 1,500 pre-k age, predominantly Child Development and Head Start children in 22 Charleston County schools that are primarily Title I. Since the beginning of this program in 2010 over 10,000 children in Charleston County have received vision screenings.
The Focus on Children program continues to make a difference in the lives of many children.
