Food Lion Feeds and Lowcountry Food Bank partner to support nearly 700 Myrtle Beach families

Volunteers also packed thousands of food boxes, backpacks and care kits for future distribution across the Grand Strand.

Food Lion Feeds joined the Lowcountry Food Bank and other local community partners on Tuesday, September 15 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center to provide food and essential supplies to nearly 700 families during Hunger Action Month(opens in new tab).

Food Lion associates and community volunteers helped neighbors select fresh produce from a pop-up market, along with nonperishable food, diapers, hygiene products and household supplies. Food Lion volunteers served as personal shoppers, guiding families through the distribution and helping them choose items that met their needs.

The event brought together Food Lion volunteers, the Lowcountry Food Bank, Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand and Horry County Council on Aging to provide immediate hunger relief and strengthen support for future community distributions.

Alongside the family distribution, associates packed 2,000 disaster relief boxes and 300 backpacks for the Lowcountry Food Bank, 300 food boxes for Horry County Council on Aging, 200 backpacks for Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand and 300 care kits for neighbors experiencing homelessness. The items will be distributed through local nonprofit partners across the community.

The Myrtle Beach event was part of Food Lion Feeds’ ongoing effort to address food insecurity in the towns and cities Food Lion serves. Founded in 2014, Food Lion Feeds has donated more than 1.5 billion meals and has committed to donating 3 billion meals by 2032.
