Football Season Ends Prematurely at Laurens District High

November 5, 2020

As it turned out, football season at Laurens District High School ended last week when Gilbert defeated the Raiders 49-21. On Wednesday, the team went on quarantine due to positive testing for COVID-19.

As a result, the annual cross-county rivalry with Clinton will not be played for the first time since 1969. The teams had been scheduled to end the season against each other Sept. 19.

Daryl Smith’s first season as head coach thus ends with a record of 2-4.
