Footlight Players Launches 79th Season With First Annual Art Auction

CHARLESTON, SC – August 4, 2010 – The Footlight Players, the longest continuously performing theatre company in the Holy City, will mark the beginning of its 79th season First Annual Local Celebrity Art Auction featuring original paintings created by eleven notable members of the Charleston business community on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the company’s downtown theatre.
 
Featured artists include: Archie Burkel­­­—The Hat Ladies; Robert Dickson—Robert’s of Charleston; R. Wayne Hall­­­—(CEO) First Federal; Richard Heffner—Footlight Players; Robert Ivey—Robert Ivey Ballet; Henry Lowndes—CT Lowndes & Co.; Shawn Jenkins­— (CEO) BenefitFocus; Linda Ketne­­r—(Politician, Donor Activist & President) KSI Leadership and Management Development; Tom O’Rourke­­­—Charleston County Parks & Recreation; Emily Remington­—A Legend In Choral Music; and  James Wadsworth­—National Chamber of Commerce.

ABC News 4 meteorologist Tom Crawford will emcee the event and serve as auctioneer.
 
Doors open at 7 p.m. for an art viewing that includes hors d’oeuvres and beverages. The Live Art Auction begins at 8 p.m.

All money generated from the live auction and raised from ticket sales will benefit the Footlight Players Theatre and the company’s ongoing efforts to present and provide quality entertainment for and by the Charleston community, as well as, to maintaining and preserving the company’s nearly one hundred fifty year old building.
