April 7, 2016

Kurt Taylor, the former Administrator for Charleston County, has joined Charleston Animal Society as its new Director of Government Relations. Taylor brings 23 years of government experience with him:

  • Prosecuted cases in the 9th Circuit Solicitor’s office as an Assistant Solicitor
  • Elected to North Charleston City Council in 1997 and served for 14 years
  • Worked for 23 years in Charleston County Government
  • Appointed Charleston County Administrator 2012 – 2015

“We are so fortunate to have someone of Taylor’s caliber on our team to help us persuade key decision makers on the importance of maintaining a No Kill Community and moving forward with our No Kill. No Harm. No More. initiative,” said Charleston Animal Society CEO Joe Elmore.

Taylor has supported Charleston Animal Society for years and has even adopted special needs animals.  His most recent adoption was a special needs Pug/Chihuahua-mix named Polly who is three-years-old.

“This opportunity to now advocate on behalf of animals is a great next step in my career. I feel I will be able to put all my years of government experience to good use as we work to find solutions to animal cruelty, homelessness and the overall health and welfare of our community’s animals,” Taylor said.
