Forty-three Bankers Graduate After Three-Year Intensive Program

COLUMBIA, SC – July 18, 2012 – The South Carolina Bankers Schoolwould like to recognize the graduates of the Class of 2012, who receivedtheir diplomas in a ceremony on July 12, 2012, thus ending the 51stannual session of the prestigious South Carolina Bankers School. TheSchool was hosted by the South Carolina Bankers Association at LanderUniversity in Greenwood, SC under the leadership of Chairman Francis A.“Frank” Townsend, III, Southern Bank and Trust, a division of GeorgiaBank and Trust, Aiken.

Approximately 140 junior level and mid-management officers andadministrators from statewide commercial banks, savings institutions,farm credit banks, and even from the Federal Reserve, attended theone-week school.  Throughout a three-year progressive course of study,students are exposed to general educational experiences in many phasesof banking and are prepared for career advancement.

Sponsored by the South Carolina Bankers Association, the Schoolincludes faculty from major universities as well as banking and businessexecutives from throughout the Southeast.  Established in 1961, it isrecognized as one of the best banking schools in the Southeast,attracting students from outside the state of South Carolina. Since thattime, over 2,800 students have graduated from the school. SCBS isregarded as one of the best values available anywhere for investment ofeducation dollars.

On Thursday evening, 43 students received their diplomas. Thegraduation was held in the Horne Arena on Lander University’s campus inGreenwood. The graduates’ CEOs were in attendance to see theirthree-year accomplishment.

The South Carolina Bankers Association is the 112-year-old trade andprofessional association representing 82 financial institutions in thestate. The SCBA is organized to effectively represent the commoninterest and welfare of South Carolina’s banking industry and to promotethe professional development of its members and individualpractitioners.  The SCBA’s mission is to provide legislative,regulatory, educational and product leadership on behalf of its members.
