Fountain Inn Church of God of Prophecy to host hands-on canning and food preservation class
September 30, 2026Homesteaders, home cooks, and gardeners looking to stock their pantries ahead of winter can brush up on their food preservation skills next month in Fountain Inn.
The Fountain Inn Church of God of Prophecy will host a comprehensive Canning and Food Preservation Class on Saturday, October 17, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. The workshop will take place at the church facility, located at 801 Quillen Ave. in Fountain Inn.
Designed for both beginners and experienced preservers, the session will walk attendees step-by-step through essential food preservation techniques:
-
Water Bath Canning: Ideal for preserving high-acid produce such as jams, jellies, pickles, and fruits.
-
Steam Bath Canning: An energy- and water-efficient alternative for processing approved high-acid foods.
-
Pressure Canning: The crucial, safety-tested method required for low-acid vegetables, stocks, and meats.
Along with safety protocols and processing guidelines, the class will highlight practical, budget-friendly tips for stretching grocery dollars and minimizing kitchen waste through home food storage.
Registration is $25 per person, with all event proceeds directly benefiting the church. Because workshop space and equipment stations are limited, attendees are encouraged to reserve their seats promptly. Community members can learn more and sign up through the Fountain Inn Church of God of Prophecy’s official Facebook page or by visiting the church at 801 Quillen Ave.
