Fountain Inn’s 6th Annual Superhero 5K Run/Walk for Autism – Be a Hero for a Great Cause!
April 9, 2025Get ready to unleash your inner superhero at the 6th Annual Superhero 5K Run/Walk for Autism, sponsored by the Fountain Inn Police Department! On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., participants will take to the streets in support of a great cause: The Little White House, a local nonprofit dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for children on the autism spectrum. The event kicks off at the corner of Weston St. And Trade St.
The event, powered by ABS Kids and many other great sponsors, is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of community, inclusion, and generosity. Participants will receive a superhero cape, mask, and t-shirt while supplies last, as well as a handmade medal to commemorate their achievement. Outback Steakhouse will be on-site providing delicious food for all participants.
The Superhero 5K originated in 2020 has grown into a beloved community tradition, drawing hundreds of participants who are eager to make a difference. Police Chief Patrick Fortenberry continues this mission of service, supporting the event’s success and strengthening the department’s commitment to community engagement. “This race is about more than just running/walking—it’s about coming together as a community to support a cause that touches so many lives,” said Chief Fortenberry. “We’re proud to be part of something that makes a real difference.”
Lu Grant, director of The Little White House, has seen the impact of the race firsthand. “This event not only raises awareness for autism but also creates opportunities for our participants to engage in fun and meaningful activities,” Grant shared. “It’s heartwarming to see so many people come together for this cause.”
Proceeds from the race will directly benefit Friends of The Little White House, an organization that provides critical services to children and adults on the autism spectrum. Their innovative program, designed for ages seven and above, combines the Montessori approach to education with real-life skill-building. From job training to recreational activities like archery, kayaking, and roller skating, The Little White House helps individuals discover their passions and develop skills for a successful future.
With a goal of gathering over 300 caped crusaders, the Fountain Inn Police Department invites individuals of all ages and abilities to participate. Whether you walk, run, or cheer from the sidelines, your involvement makes a difference. The race route is officially certified by USATF/RRCA (SC19046DW), ensuring a great experience for seasoned runners and first-time participants alike.
