Four Attorneys Elected to Motley Rice LLC Membership

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – October 29, 2009 – Motley Rice LLC, one of the nation’s largest plaintiffs’ litigation firms, today announces the promotion of John A. Baden IV, Vincent L. Greene IV, Marlon E. Kimpson and Ingrid L. Moll to member status. Each of these attorneys has consistently exhibited qualities that parallel the firm’s basic philosophy and guiding principles. Their willingness to serve for the greater good and commitment to community along with their legal experiences exemplify the membership qualities necessary to support and guide the firm’s growing securities and consumer fraud, mesothelioma, environmental and aviation practice groups.

John Baden began working with Motley Rice attorneys in 1997 as a litigation trial paralegal for Ron Motley while earning an undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston. Baden assisted Motley on landmark tobacco litigation, primarily for Florida, Mississippi and Texas and supported other attorneys on occupational disease cases in a variety of states. Today, Baden handles complete case management for asbestos-related cases. He also works with Joe Rice negotiating complex asbestos bankruptcy cases and managing the related claims processes.

Baden earned a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law and served as a judicial intern with the Honorable Sol Blatt, Jr., of the U.S. District Court of South Carolina and the Honorable Jasper M. Cureton of the South Carolina Court of Appeals. He is a member of the South Carolina Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice and is a frequent speaker on asbestos bankruptcy issues. He is licensed in South Carolina.

In 1997, Vin Greene started working with Motley Rice attorneys in Rhode Island while earning a law degree from George Washington University. He continued his work with the tobacco litigation, toxic torts and medical malpractice teams as an attorney starting in 1998. Today, Greene works on behalf of children and families poisoned by exposure to lead paint and workers and other individuals injured by asbestos-related diseases. He has represented hundreds of individuals harmed by asbestos products in Kentucky, New Jersey, Ohio and Rhode Island and has argued before two state supreme courts. His work on lead paint cases has led to trials, negotiations and settlements in Illinois, Missouri, New York, Ohio and Rhode Island.

Greene played a critical role in defeating tort reform legislation in Rhode Island, utilizing testimony, analysis and grassroots outreach to push passage of a bill that helped prevent childhood lead poisoning without infringing on victims’ rights. For his numerous efforts and accomplishments, the Childhood Lead Action Project honored him with its Beyond the Call of Duty Award in 2001. Greene is a member of the American Bar Associations, the American Association for Justice, the American Civil Liberties Union. He is licensed in Rhode Island.

Marlon Kimpson’s legal career started with representing people injured by asbestos-related products. Kimpson now plays a leading role the firm’s client development and relations and has been integral to developing the firm’s catastrophic injury, aviation and securities fraud practice groups. Building upon the firm’s relationships with unions and governmental entities, Kimpson helps unions, institutional investors, state and municipality pension funds better identify potential securities fraud and improve corporate governance through securities, deal and derivative litigation. Additionally, Kimpson has been active in several class action and mass tort cases.

Kimpson earned a B.A. from Morehouse College, a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law and served as a clerk to the Honorable Matthew J. Perry of the U.S. District Court of South Carolina. He has held leadership roles with the Palmetto Project, the Charleston Black Lawyers Association, The Peggy Browning Fund and the South Carolina Election Commission. His legal work and community involvement earned him a spot on the 2005 Charleston Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 list. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Carolina Youth Development Center, as a member of the AAJ Convention Planning Committee and as a Presidential Appointee to the University of South Carolina Board of Visitors. Kimpson has frequently appeared in the media and as a guest speaker at both continuing legal education and community events. He is licensed in South Carolina.

Working out of the firm’s Connecticut office, Ingrid Moll is a trial and appellate attorney who litigates on behalf of consumers, businesses, unions, and governmental entities. Moll’s practice includes class action and complex litigation involving consumer protection and unfair trade practices litigation, commercial matters, environmental disputes, and securities. Prior to joining Motley Rice in 2004, Moll was an associate at two large defense firms.

Moll earned B.A. degrees from Wheaton College and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she served as the editor-in-chief of the Connecticut Law Review. Upon graduating from law school, Moll served for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable David M. Borden of the Connecticut Supreme Court. Moll has taught moot court as an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association. Moll is also an active volunteer with Lawyers for Children America and a member of the Oliver Ellsworth Inn of Court. In 2005, Moll was honored with both the Hartford Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 Award and the Connecticut Law Tribune’s New Leaders of the Law Impact Award. She is licensed in Connecticut, the District of Columbia, New York and South Carolina.
