Four Honored for Exemplifying Living History at Post 56 Meeting
January 19, 2025At the regular meeting of Copeland-Davidson Post 56 and Unit 56 on January 14, four Legionnaires were recognized for their dedication to showcasing the heritage and traditions of American military veterans. These individuals were commended for their active participation in parades, veteran dedications, banquets, and local school events, where they serve as living history examples for the community’s youth.
Each honoree received a Certificate of Appreciation in Supporting Youth Activities Celebrating the Traditions and Heritage of the American Veteran. The certificate recognized their efforts to embody the pride, service, and historical significance of American military veterans. By donning vintage uniforms, the honorees not only honor the legacy of military service but also inspire young people to consider service as a door to future opportunities.
The citation read, in part:
“For performing physical examples of the pride and role in history of the American Military Veteran, pride in the American Legion, and the Love of our Country, during Parades, Dedications, Civic Banquets, Honorariums, and even local school functions. Wearing your vintage uniform, you also illustrated to young people that military service can be another door that is open for their future.”
The recognition was presented by Post 56 Vice-Commander Eric Valiante, with former South Carolina State Legion Historian Russ Cantrell as co-signer. The honorees were acknowledged for advancing American Legion programs and activities dedicated to God and country.
